One who is unable to protect himself / herself attracts plenty of problems, ranging from potential spiritual harassment, bad luck, easy target of negativity/jealousy and difficult progression in life.
This ritual once done to a person, marks the beginning of attracting plenty of weird problems. It is akin to leaving his/her home door wide open for anyone to trespass and cause harm.

The equivalent in chess strategy is the Danish Gambit; this ritual gives you a chance for rapid development over your enemy/competitor, strategic advantage or it can be the beginning of a series of future annihilating rituals.
A curse when done on a person with intense protection serves next to 0 purpose, their protection aims to block or even reflect curses thrown their way.
Is a curse more effective on someone with protection or a lack of protection more effective? You decide.
